Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek spoke to Russian journalists in a forum organized in ANTALYA, said that the “100 billion dollar” trade target set by the heads of state of Turkey and Russia is possible, “There are minor problems and this is normal. The importance is solving them with mutual dialogue.
Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mehmet Büyükekşi attended the Turkey-Russia Media Forum organized by the international broadcasting organization in Antalya between 22-26 October. Serik District In a hotel in the Belek tourism region, Deputy Prime Minister Şimşek voiced numerous media outlets from Russia on the media forum supported by the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, TIM and major tourism companies.
‘FOR THE THREE YEARS’ GROWTH TARGET IS 5.5 PERCENT ‘
Mr. Mehmet Şimşek said “Hello, good morning, welcome” in Russian to Russian journalists, made a wide presentation about the crisis of the world economy, the risks in the medium and long term and the economic indicators in Turkey. Explaining that Turkey is rapidly emerging from the effects of the last coup attempt and the troubles it has caused due to acts of terrorism, said Mr. Simsek that there is a recovery in export and confidence indices. Stating that Turkey expects this growth rate to be 5.5 percent or slightly above, Şimşek said, “We targeted 5.5 percent in the next three years.”
‘ THERE İS A VERY COMPREHENSIVE AND STRUCTURAL REFORM AGENDA’
Rapid recovery in relation with Russia is mentioned and will continue, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said that while Germany is in the first place in tourism in the previous years, Russia is in the first place this year and that the Russians are showing their happiness to Turkey. “Turkey has a very comprehensive structural reform agenda and we are not very satisfied with what we have come through, but of course Turkey has done a good job in the last 15 years. we have a comprehensive structural reform agenda for the region. ”
Whenever Turkey reforms, Mehmet Simsek pointed out that the class has gone through the class, explained the targeted reforms as follows:
“From 1950 to 80s, Turkey was in the lower income group.. With the reform in the beginning of the 80s, Turkey emerged in the middle low income group, with reforms we made at the beginning of the year 2000. Turkey is now in the upper middle income group. We aim to improve the quality of human capital, to improve investment climate, to attract more investment, to increase R & D and innovation, to make the labor market more flexible, to speed up the judicial system and to improve quality we have a reform agenda for public finance and capital markets. ”
‘100 BILLION DOLLAR TARGET POSSIBLE’
“We want to be very strong friendship and neighborhood principles with Russia, Russia was the biggest trading partner of Turkey and had a trade volume of $ 38 billion in 2008. The target of $ 100 billion put forward by our heads of state is possible,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, assessing the situation between Turkey and Russia. My message is very clear: Turkey and Russia are the brightest countries for the future, there are minor problems, there are problems between the families, this is normal, the problems are solved with dialogue, and so is sometimes the tomato discussion but talking and solving.
PERCEPTION IN US AND WESTERN PRESS
Responding to the questions of Russian journalists, Simsek said of the sanctions imposed by the West on Russia:
“Actually Turkey’s attitude is clear. The answer of our problem lies in the attitude of Turkey. It can be a problem.I believe that these problems are solved by dialogue, that the citizens of the country have not gone through punishment and that they have gone through dialogue. We know that many sanctions do not work very well.
On the question of Russian journalists, the US and Western press criticized and insulted Turkey and Russia with the same sentiment, and on the question of joint action regarding the development of reaction and positive direction against it, Şimşek replied:
“Unfortunately, you can see that there is an attempt to create a very serious negative perception of Turkey and Russia in the West, and that it is systematic, although we can see that as a classical adjective Turkey and Russia seem to be an attempt to express the governments in the two countries, it is not true what they did in Russia or in Turkey, it is not as bad as they claimed, but we will still improve our reality, our performance from one side to the other, both of which will be a driving force for us. everything is not perfect but I am speaking on behalf of my country, but we are not as bad as it is shown outside. ”
TURKISH PRODUCTS ARE RELIABLE IN RUSSIA
TİM President Mehmet Büyükekşi, who stated that they conducted perception research in 26 countries regarding the reliability of the products exported from Turkey last July, said that Russia is at the head of the most trusting countries. Büyükekşi reminded that Turkey’s export volume to Russia was $ 7 billion in 2013 and $ 25 billion in imports with a total of $ 32 billion in trade volume in 2013. “Unfortunately, we have not achieved this success in the following years. At the end of the year, we will reach 2.6 to 2.7 billion dollars, which is the difference between the previous 7 billion dollars and we still have to work hard in our export and import business because we can catch the old figures and it is very important to remove obstacles before trade between the two countries. the target is $ 100 billion and in order to achieve this goal, barriers must be realized, and visa-free travel is made possible, and as long as the obstacles to trade and tourism remain, the relations between Turkey and Russia will further develop. ”
