Büyükekşi: “Turkey and Qatar will reach the export targets with cooperation.
The Export Compass Program, which was organized by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) with the support of Coface and covering 10 countries, continued with 4th event, Route: Qatar.
Turkish Exporters Assembly Chairman Mr. Mehmet Büyükekşi said the followings during his opening speech: “Our exports to Qatar reached $400 million in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 30 percent. In other words, during the first nine months of 2017, we almost achieved the exports figure in 2016. We will go to Qatar soon in order to discover the trade potential of the two countries. Turkey will reach to 2023 vision and Qatar 2030 vision with together.”
Mr. Büyükekşi continued: “However, these figures are not enough for us. Turkey and Qatar are perhaps the two countries with the highest ability to complete each other on the world. Therefore, we need to increase our foreign trade as soon as possible. The largest sectors that export to Qatar are electronics; fishery and animal products and chemicals”
Mr. Ethem Sancak, Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) Turkey / Qatar Business Council President, who participated the event, stated that after the embargo imposed by some Arab countries towards Qatar, there are great opportunities for Turkey in this country. “According to Qatari people, the quality of goods and services belonging to Turkey is not lower than Europe. Qatar has a population of close to 2.5 million, of which 500 thousand are Qatari. They generate more than 150 billion dollars in national income, and over 75 thousand dollars in per capita income. Qatar has a great opportunity after June 16th. It is possible to fold 10 to 20 the commercial volume.” Sancak said.
The event continued with the panel attended by Coface Board Member and General Manager Mr.Emre Özer, Elimsan General Manager Mr.Cemal Sadiki, Siemens Energy Management Department Sales CFO Mr.Tuğyan Ünsal and Doha’s former Commercial Consultant Mr.Ömür Atılgan.
